ABOUT THE IMAGE

Symbol Of Spring

Spring is a season of new beginnings, as the plants, trees, and animals awaken and emerge from their winter slumber. In Queensland, one of the most notable signs of spring is the Jacaranda tree, which boasts vibrant purple petals due to the presence of anthocyanins. They can be found scattered across neighbours, cities and, in this case, The University Of Queensland. The story behind these trees being here is a unique one, as they are actually native to South America. How did the get here?

Una was a UQ student in the 1930s. Una was also the daughter of the Botanic Gardens curator and spent her childhood in a forest of exotic plants and near a small zoo in the gardens. In those gardens also grew what was believed to be Australia’s oldest jacaranda tree. The story of UQ jacarandas is the story of that tree and of Una’s father, Ernest Walter Bick, the man who raised and planted more than 130 jacarandas across the St Lucia campus in the 1940s. These trees still surround the campus today and are an identifying colour of the university, reflecting the Jacaranda tree’s vivid purple blossoms.

Common Questions

What does ‘Limited Edition’ mean?

Limited Edition means that there will only ever be a pre-determined number of prints produced of each photograph. Once the edition sells out, there will never be another reprint or sale of that photograph from the artist.

How do you hang the artwork?

All of our pieces will arrive with the necessary hanging equipment already attached to the back of the frame. In addition, one set of drywall anchors will be included with each purchase for mounting on drywall only. For more detailed information on how to hang your artwork, please refer to our FAQs page.

How long will shipping take?

We know you’ll be waiting in anticipation to receive your new artwork at your door! Orders are generally dispatched within 14 days after you place your order. Once shipped, the arrival timeframe is an additional 7-14 business days, depending on the final destination and courier. Please note that we cannot ship to a PO Box, and remote areas might need more time for shipping.  If there is going to be a delay beyond this timeframe, we will be in touch.

What is your refund and return policy?

Marc James Limited Editions are custom-made, and as such, if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return it within 7 days of receipt and receive store credit for a future purchase. Returned items need to be in a like-new condition.  All artwork goes under a final quality assurance inspection before being carefully packed to ensure its safety during shipping. Every piece is also insured during transit. In the unlikely event that your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery to qualify for a replacement, and we’ll organise it, free of charge. However, any damage reported outside of this window will not be eligible for a replacement.

A LOOK INTO THE ARTWORK

The Modern Era Of Fine Art

Displaying an artist's work can be done through various mediums, but some stand apart over others. All Marc James' pieces are printed on one of the highest-grade fine art materials available today - aluminium dye sublimation printing. This special process involves sublimating the ink directly onto a sheet of light-reactive white aluminium using heat and pressure. The result is a print with exceptional brightness, vibrancy, and clarity that most other printing techniques cannot match. The prints are so luminous that they almost appear backlit at times.

The final product merges this with a hidden frame attached to the back to let the piece float elegantly off your wall, creating the perfect modern art piece for any home or space.

An exclusive community for collectors.

When you add a limited edition piece from Marc James to your collection, you'll receive early access to exclusive new releases, invitations to private gallery events, and 10% off future purchases with your collector pricing.
